Danish gourmet liquorice manufacturer Lakrids by Bülow has opened a new retail store in Cologne's Stollwerck-Haus. The property at Hohe Strasse 160–168 is situated in one of Germany's most heavily frequented pedestrian zones. Real estate advisory firm Colliers acted as broker for the lease.
With the signing of this lease, the commercial property reports full occupancy across its retail space. Cologne's traditional shopping thoroughfare Hohe Strasse thus attracts another international specialist retail concept targeting high visibility and heavy footfall.
Established tenant mix in prime Cologne city-centre location
Colliers had previously been responsible for several lettings in the commercial building. In addition to the recent transaction with Lakrids by Bülow, the consultancy also brokered leases for tenants TUMI, Build-A-Bear, and most recently Bahlsen. The property's occupier mix also includes existing tenants Wempe and Tamaris.
- —Lakrids by Bülow and Bahlsen with speciality offerings in the confectionery segment
- —TUMI and Tamaris offering luggage and fashionable footwear
- —Wempe as a long-established jeweller and watchmaker
- —Build-A-Bear with an experience-oriented toy concept
Sustained demand for premium retail pitches
Daniel Stallmach, Head of Retail Letting at Colliers in North Rhine-Westphalia, places the lease in the context of the local market. In his assessment, the central city-centre location, strong visibility and high footfall make Cologne's Hohe Strasse one of the most sought-after retail destinations in Germany.
According to Stallmach, the full occupancy now achieved at Stollwerck-Haus underlines the sustained demand for high-quality retail premises in prime pitch locations. For high-profile branch concepts, first-class city-centre footfall locations remain an indispensable cornerstone of their bricks-and-mortar presence.
