thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg GmbH has re-awarded the contract for catering operations at its corporate site in Hagen. With immediate effect, Klüh Catering is responsible for catering for the workforce. The contract includes provision for around 925 employees across production and administration and encompasses a multi-faceted culinary service profile.
Alongside traditional breakfast and lunch options, the catering concept at the Hagen site includes snacks and the servicing of internal meeting rooms. To ensure round-the-clock provision outside regular serving hours, modern vending machines supplement the food and beverage options on the company premises.
Modern kitchen technology and digital on-site services
To prepare meals, the caterer uses contemporary technology such as front-cooking stations and Merry Chef high-speed ovens. In parallel, the offering is supported digitally: employees can pre-order meals and check daily menus via the Klüh Catering app. The system also provides details on nutritional values, allergens, additives and sustainability criteria.
- —Full catering including breakfast, lunch options and conference services
- —Vending machine stations for flexible shift operations
- —Preparation using front cooking and high-speed ovens
- —Digital menu planning and pre-ordering via a proprietary application
Site security and staff continuity
The contract was awarded following a multi-stage selection procedure. A decisive factor in the decision was a reference visit by thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg to an automotive supplier in Münster managed by Klüh. A key element of the agreement is the transfer of the existing on-site staff by way of a transfer of undertakings, thereby preserving the well-established team.
Thorsten Greth, Managing Director of Klüh Catering, emphasised that reliability for both client and workforce is paramount, particularly during a transfer of undertakings. The objective is to continually develop the existing catering services and reliably secure ongoing operations.
thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg GmbH is part of the steel division of the thyssenkrupp Group and operates at the Hagen site as a specialist in hot-rolled medium-wide strip with the closest tolerances. The industrial enterprise primarily serves customers in the automotive, saw and agricultural machinery industries, as well as the cold rolling sector.
