Former professional baseball player Matt Holliday has placed his estate in Paradise Valley in the US state of Arizona on the market for 11.6 million dollars. The seven-time MLB All-Star acquired the property only in February of this year for 10.6 million dollars. Prior to this, the family had decided to sell their roughly 136-acre estate in the state of Oklahoma. The decisive factor for the move to the desert region was the diagnosis of a respiratory condition caused by water damage at their previous residence, which necessitated a transition to a drier climate.
Following the acquisition of the property at the foot of Camelback Mountain, Holliday invested heavily in building works to enhance living conditions. Based on an assessment by SENERGY360, advanced air filtration units and a comprehensive whole-house water filtration system were installed to meet the family's health requirements.
Architecture and appointments at Camelback Mountain
The residence covers an area of approximately 7,781 square feet on a 1.13-acre plot. The layout provides five bedrooms and six bathrooms. The centre of the home is formed by a spacious living and dining area, which transitions directly outdoors via a roughly 14-foot-wide sliding glass wall. The kitchen is fitted with light timber cabinetry and a striking island unit in black. The principal bedroom suite occupies almost an entire wing and features its own bar, direct garden access, and a bathroom with a freestanding tub.
- —More than 3,000 square feet of covered terrace and lounge areas with mountain views
- —A 60-foot lap pool alongside a separate heated spa area
- —Control4 home automation, fitness room, and air-conditioned garage parking
- —Fully approved planning permission for a detached guest house of approximately 845 square feet
Background to the swift resale
The grounds were landscaped by the renowned Berghoff Design Group and combine low-maintenance desert planting with expansive lawns and a lounge arranged around an open fire pit. In addition, a home cinema and a study with dark patterned wallpaper complement the interior space.
The fact that the property is up for sale again after less than a year has not been explained in detail through official channels. According to reports, the family is seeking a residence that already features a completed guest house, rather than the unbuilt plans held for the current plot. The sports icon leaves the future owner a technically modernised, turnkey retreat at the prime end of the Paradise Valley market.
